Emily's Special Gift

22nd Feb 2017

Emily Gibson in Primary 7 did something incredibly special over the mid-term break.  Here, in her own words, she explains what she did!

'Last Friday I donated my hair to the Little Princess Trust.

I decided that I was going to get my hair cut so I thought that instead of leaving my hair on the ground to get thrown away, it could be used to make some little child happy.

I had heard of the Little Princess Trust so I thought I would give it to them.  The Little Princess Trust is a charity that makes wigs out of your hair for children who have lost theirs due to cancer treatment.  The minimum donation of hair that you can give is seven inches.  The charity has specialists who make the wigs.  They prefer using real hair instead of false hair so that it feels more natural on the child.

If you are getting your hair cut an getting seven inches or more cut off your hair, you should think about donating your hair to the Little Princess Trust.'

Here at St. Patrick's we would like to congratulate Emily on doing something so kind and worthwhile!  It was a lovely thing to do Emily!

I'm sure you will all agree her new haircut is fabulous!
